HAES Links for the General Public: Info & Practice

  • Active At Any Size (guide)

Welcome

Sonoma County Health At Every Size is a newly forming educational, social, support, and recreational organization for health professionals, educators, and the public: promoting size acceptance and healthy lifestyles for people of all sizes as an alternative to the unhealthy and generally counterproductive practice of recommending dieting and exercise for the purpose of weight loss.

Pursuing weight loss, in hopes it will indirectly improve our health, often is illusive or temporary, often does more harm than good, and the research shows is more likely to result in long-term weight gain than weight loss.

Engaging in healthy behaviors at any size--including restoring normalized, hunger-based eating patterns, eating nutritiously most of the time, and being physically active for fun and to feel good--behaviors that directly improve our health--is something everyone can be successful at.

Join the revolution: practice and advocate Health At Every Size!
